Travel (continued)ScotlandThe Scotland tour was also a guided small-group (12 people) bus tour of the Scottish highlands. We had been to Scotland twice before, once as three-days part of a longer Tauck Tour of the United Kingdom, the other was our five-days whisky tour of Islay. |
The Scottish tour started with a little excitement. When the taxi from the Edinburgh airport got us to the street of our hotel, the street was blocked because our hotel was on fire. Our tour company quickly found another hotel for us but it was quite an exciting beginning. |
When we met our tour guide/bus driver the next morning, he was dressed in coat and tie and kilt. He wore a kilt throughout the entire tour. |
Aside from all the beautiful scenery, we made friends in this small group and started meeting every evening at 5 o’clock for cocktail hour in the hotel bar. As the tour went on, the group kept growing until most everyone was coming. We broke into separate smaller groups to have dinner. Good times were had by all. |
As part of the tour, we went to Loch Ness and saw Nessie. We took the bridge to the Isle of Skye where we visited the Talisker distillery and sampled their whisky. No, I did not misspell the drink, there is no ‘e’ in Scotch. |
